Just in time for Halloween!
From Seaside Resort to International City: The Story of Long Beach Lives in its Cemeteries
Like so many things our Historical Cemetery Tour could not be held this year. Instead, our team created a film that tells local history utilizing past Cemetery Tour performances. We weave together stories from 24 past Cemetery Tours. Narrated by historian Craig Hendricks the film includes 234 historical images, postcards, maps, and documents. The 90-minute piece includes local cemetery history, seaside recreation, women’s suffrage, harbor history, prohibition, the depression, World War II, the incarceration of innocent Japanese Americans, Poly High School, and the Bougess White Scholarship Foundation.
The film illustrates the impressive archives of the HSLB. From postcards to photos to moving footage, this 90-minute film is a testimony to the impressive collections available to researchers.
The film is suitable for all ages. It is asynchronous and can be watched multiple times from its release date on October 30th until November 13th.
