Find out as former City Council Member Evan A. Braude, and developer Robert Bellevue tell the story of the attempts to save the nationally registered landmark. Braude was a council member at the time and Bellevue owned the property. The chateauesque structure was located on Ocean Blvd next to the Villa Riviera. It was first designed by the Los Angeles architectural firm of Meyer and Holler, and opened as an exclusive men’s club in 1926. The building hosted many events and clubs over the years including early performances by the LB Playhouse (one of HSLB’s current exhibitions). Hear about the attempt to reuse the structure, and how in 1989 it was ultimately lost.
