In an effort to preserve the Historical Society of Long Beach’s collection and to staff the research center we charge a $25 research fee for researchers who are not members. Please include a detailed description of your request with payment.  Remote research is $50.00 per hour and research will not be conducted until payment is received.  We will do our best to answer inquiries.  Payment does not guarantee that we have the requested information, only that we will provide access to materials from our collection, or in the case of inquiry requests, conduct research.  Please note, that our collection does not include the local newspapers, only occasional clippings.  Newspaper indexes can be found at the Long Beach Main Public Library.

Research Inquiries by Members

Members may conduct research at 4260 Atlantic Avenue for no additional fee as long as their membership is active.  Members receive one hour free remote research per year.  Additional hours are billed at $50.00 per hour.  Documents and ephemera may be copied at a rate of $.50 a page.  Photographs may not be copied but photographic reproductions are available.  We encourage you to become a member of the HSLB.

Remote Research–Email, Telephone Or Mail Inquiries

Patrons requesting research by email, telephone or mail will be charged $50 an hour plus $.50 for any copies.  The fee must be paid before research is conducted and helps to compensate the organization for staff time and resources.  We encourage you to visit the HSLB.
