Members of the Cambodian Jewelry Association of California gathered for a photograph commemorating their first anniversary in 1999. The art of jewelry making was not written in books in Cambodia. Instead, it was transmitted orally to family members and apprentices. One of the major contributions of the Cambodian Jewelry Association was to publish Jewelry Skills and Techniques, a practical book on all aspects of gemstones and precious metals. At the time of its publication, there were some 17 Cambodian jewelry stores located in Long Beach, CA.
