This brief biography for children was written as a joint project with the Long Beach Unified School District. It is illustrated with family photographs. Herrera worked with Cesar Chavez directing a social service program for migrant farm workers and was the first Mexican American woman to run for the Long Beach City Council. She founded the Centro Shalom in 1977, a social service agency, in Long Beach.
